From February 26-27, CLDP organized the first Central Asia Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Working Group in Istanbul, Turkey.  CLDP invited private sector women entrepreneurs to participate in the working group.  Guest speakers from Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), Coca-Cola and Retailer Vertical presented on various topics and promoted audience participation through the use of interactive case studies.  The WEE Working Group focused on promoting interconnectivity of women owned businesses in the Central Asia region through strategic partnerships between local and national chambers commerce and trade associations. The first program for WEE addressed two key topics (1) drafting a regional business agenda for women-owned business in Central Asia, and (2) how to utilize digital commerce to promote inter-connectivity in the Central Asia region and trade to Western markets. This workshop is the first in a series of workshops that will be held on Women’s Economic Empowerment. The workshop concluded with the creation of a document of recommendations for future workshops and engagements.
