CLDP convened a three-day meeting for the members of the Food Safety, Animal Health, and Plant Health working groups. This program was conducted with the expert advice of officials from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Codex Alimentarius Commission (WHO/FAO/Codex). During the program, members of the working groups had the opportunity to discuss working group-specific issues using the expertise of their working group advisors. In addition, each working group Chairperson presentedon the achievement of the goals set during the June 2006 Dubrovnik program. Through this workshop, CLDP continued to further encourage and assist the development of the working groups so as to serve as an integral role in the better coordination of SPS measures in the Stability Pact region, thereby progressing in the removal of non-tariff barriers to trade and investment in the region, constituted by divergent and inefficient SPS measures.
