On March 22- April 16, CLDP in cooperation with USAID - Power Africa will host a drafting session on transmission finance. In line with Power Africa’s 2030 goal of generating 7,500 MW of electricity and 5,000 km of transmission lines, the Power Africa Understanding series is being expanded to include a dedicated guidebook on transmission financing. Following the collaborative development formula of the prior Understanding books, the session will incorporate the input of African governments, private sector experts, and multilateral institutions, to develop a guide that is relevant to the unique challenges in Africa’s transmission market by drawing from global experience in this space. CLDP's Power Africa work has thus far led to the publication of four standard-setting handbooks which have been adopted by African governments as a reference for energy project development helped facilitate successful project negotiation.
