On August 22-25, 2018, at the invitation of the Training Center of the Ministry of Finance, CLDP participated in a Program regarding Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Government Procurement. The program included the Minister of Finance, the Deputy Minister of Economy, two Parliamentarians, representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, from the Bishkek Mayor's office, the Training Center's staff, and the private sector. Topics included Kyrgyzstan's experience with PPPs, planned changes to the Law on PPPs, US and Virginia's PPP experience as well as dispute resolution and fighting corruption in Public Procurement. PPPs offer developing countries an opportunity to draw upon the efficiencies, innovation, and expertise of the private sector in order to address needs in the transportation, health, and education sectors. The Kyrgyz Republic seeks private sector partners from within the Kyrgyz Republic as well as from among US companies and international financial institutions.
