CLDP, in collaboration with the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII), organized a visit to the United States for fourTunisian bankers on February 15-18, 2015. The visit deepened participants’ understanding of the benefits of franchising and the role banks can play in the industry’s development in Tunisia. The visit included participation in the Financial Summit at the International Franchise Association’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas At the summit, the participants witnessed the interplay between the finance world and the franchise industry and learned about franchisor business metrics, planning capital expenditure to maximize return on investment, and strategies for detecting and preventing financial loss. Following the summit visit, the bankers attended a one-day workshop organized by CLDP and MEII, which introduced the group of bankers to best practices in credit analysis, financial disclosure, loan collateral, unit level economic, and key franchise underwriting requirements developed by MEII specifically for Tunisia
