ASEAN: CLDP to Implement Third Country Training Program on Trade Facilitation

January 19, 2015 - January 23, 2015
CLDP Expert Training Participants on Customs Procedures

CLDP, in Partnership with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Civil Service College, implemented a week-long workshop on January 19-23, 2015, focusing on trade facilitation for participants from Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). The program took an in-depth look at international legal obligations pertaining to trade agreements, investment promotion authorities, regulatory coherence, optimum supply-chain management, and customs best practices. Trade facilitation is an important topic in the S.E. Asia region as the members of ASEAN are slated to form a single economic community in 2015.

The workshop is part of the Third Country Training Program (TCTP), a joint initiative between Singapore and the U.S. Department of State. CLDP recently signed an agreement with the Department of State to implement three workshops on areas of commercial law, including trade facilitation, public procurement, and intellectual property rights. The next two programs are scheduled to take place later in 2015.
