From September 18 – 22, CLDP hosted, alongside interagency experts from the International Trade Administration (ITA) and the Cyberspace and Digital Policy Bureau (CDP) at the U.S. Department of State, a group of Egyptian experts from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) for a study tour aimed at sharing the US laws and industry best practices on privacy and data security. In addition to meeting with the U.S. government interagency experts, the group visited a host of industry representatives, as well as think tank thought leaders to discuss cutting edge issues such as facilitation of cross border data flows, responsible data governance, and use and regulation of artificial intelligence. This study tour follows a series of consultations between MCIT and Department of Commerce representatives. The goal of the engagement is to facilitate digital trade and bolster the U.S. – Egypt economic partnership and cooperation.
