CLDP collaborated with the Government of Egypt on competition issues dating back to the development of Egypt's Competition Law and the establishment of the Egyptian Competition Authority. The purpose of this activity was to host two Egyptian Competition Authority senior staff to attend the International Competition Network Workshop on Unilateral Conduct March 23-24, the American Bar Association Spring Antitrust Meeting in Washington, D.C. and hold select meetings and informational discussion with US Department of Justice staff from March 30 to April 3, 2009. These meetings included information on assessing dominance/substantial market power and evaluating unilateral conduct, updated news and techniques in antitrust law, and individual meetings with US Department of Justice staff regarding the dilemma of related persons from a vertical and horizontal perspective (the evolution of the concept), the relevant market in cartel and vertical arrangement not involving a dominant firms (the need of determination) and whether if there is a specific criteria of determination, the potential competition and barriers to entry, the dominant buyer behavior.
