On March 7-12, CLDP, in cooperation with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR), the University of Pittsburgh Center for International Legal Education (CILE), and the Royal University for Women (RUW), in additional to other resource partners, hosted the 12th annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot in Riffa, Bahrain. The Pre-Moot competition prepares students, lawyers, and law faculty for their participation in the 29th annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot), the world's premier legal educational program for improving contract resolution through arbitration. From March 7-9, students and coaches participated in an oral advocacy training program, and on March 10-12, students presented their oral arguments to a panel of arbitrators. This year, the Pre-Moot was held both virtually and in person which brought together over 150 students from 34 teams from the Middle East, Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, along with over 200 arbitrators. The Pre-Moot aims to expand the Vis Moot to underrepresented regions and enhance contract enforcement mechanisms globally.
