CLDP, in close coordination with USAID/Mali, implemented a two-day forum on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). This program exposed participants to the importance of IP protection and its impact on Malian stakeholders. The workshop detailed enforcement aspects by both the judiciary and the customs border patrol. CLDP utilized the expertise of IP experts from the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Import and Trade Administration as well as representatives from the African Organization of Intellectual Property (OAPI) and from private industries to provide presentations and panel discussions on IP, the economic impact of piracy and enforcement.  In addition to Malian judges, lawyers, and IP officials, the workshop benefited from the participation of stakeholders in the music and pharmaceutical industries.
