From November 13 - 16, CLDP provided consultations to a high-level delegation from Iraq's Ministry of Oil on developing investment projects that would attract US investors, companies, and technologies.  The program was conducted at the behest of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, and in coordination with the US Embassy in UAE, the Iraq AmCham, the US-Arab Bilateral Chamber of Commerce, as well as Commerce's FCS and energy teams.  The consultations consisted of site visits and discussions with US companies, US lenders, and the IFC on means to structure projects that would bring viable investors to build Iraq's refinery capacity.  The program was conducted on the margins of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) and was attended by the US Ambassadors to Iraq and the UAE, along with the Iraqi Minister of Oil as well as a team of refinery officials from the Ministry.  As a result of the program, US companies have renewed interest in Iraq's downstream market and the Ministry of Oil is now in negotiations with two US Companies to develop critical refinery and gas megaprojects.
