On June 27 and 28, CLDP held a Commercial Finance conference in Baghdad, Iraq. The conference co-hosted by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance brought together experts from the United States, multilateral and private institutions to discuss with Iraqi counterparts how under-developed commercial law and financial mechanisms can act as barriers to trade and investment. 

Simultaneously, the International Trade Administration (ITA) held a US–Iraq Business Dialogue (USIBD) conference, co-hosted by the Iraq Ministry of Trade. The event brought US firms doing business in Iraq together with Iraqi private sector representatives to share concerns on private sector development and recommend policies to improve commercial relations between our two countries. General Counsel Cameron F. Kerry co-hosted the two conference and delivered remarks. During his remarks he stated that such conferences reflect the continuing commitment of the US to “building a prosperous, diversified, growing economy in Iraq, integrated in the global economic system”.
