CLDP hosted a senior delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) for meetings and workshops in Washington DC designed to help Iraq improve its technology transfer and valuation capabilities.  The delegation has visited technology transfer offices at NIST and the USDA in addition to the John Hopkins Business School and the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation to discuss lessons learned and best practices in establishing a technology transfer office. CLDP has also organized workshop sessions and interactive case studies for the participants with legal practitioners focusing on patent landscaping, the protection of intellectual property rights and technology licensing. Next week, the delegation will be travelling to northern California for site visits organized by CLDP at technology licensing and technology transfer offices at Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of California at Davis. This two week US program is part of CLDP’s mandate, at the behest of the US Embassy in Baghdad, to help the Iraqi MoST create a technology transfer office and a database for publicly funded R&D projects in Iraq.
