CLDP sponsored an all-women team from Kabul University (KU) Law School to participate in the Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition (Vis East Moot) in Hong Kong On March 31- April 6. Vis East Moot, held annually in Hong Kong, is one of the most prestigious international law moot court competitions. The goal of Vis East Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for the resolution of international business disputes through its application to a complete a problem of a client and to train law students in methods of alternative dispute resolution. Before the competition, CLDP held a two-day training for the KU team. The training focused on preparing the KU team to craft their legal arguments and then practice those arguments before the competition. The Vis moot experience helped quip the Afghan participants with the skills necessary to handle commercial business disputes, thereby bolstering Afghanistan’s legal capacity.
