Kyrgyzstan: Business Advising to the Prime Minister

The former CEO of UNOCAL, Mr. Richard Stegemeier, organized and supported by CLDP and other DOC bureaus, traveled to Kyrgyzstan to provide Prime Minister Kulov practical advice on improving the investment climate. After assessing the local economy, Mr. Stegemeier identified mining, hydro-electric power, manufacturing and tourism as potential industries for sustained development. Mr. Stegemeier advised the Kyrgyz Government to consider revising complicated tax code and customs procedures and to ensure contract sanctity in order to further stimulate investment.
