CLDP organized a three-day workshop in Monrovia, Liberia for about 50 participants to facilitate the development of an Interagency Task Force, by bringing together a wide range of relevant Liberian agencies and stakeholders involved in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy. The program aimed to harmonize procedures on trade-related law enforcement, and to determine the skills and mechanisms needed to promote greater communication and coordination among IP enforcement agencies for the timely exchange of information and coordinated responses to infractions. CLDP drew from the expertise of various U.S. government agencies including the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Patent and Trademark Office, as well as the expertise and resources of the Liberian Law Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Participants hailed from the Ministries of Justice, Finance, Labour, Health and Agriculture, the Land Reform Commission, the United Nations Mission in Liberia and the Musicians Union among others. An official IP Interagency Task Force Committee has now been established to put the workshop recommendations in place and to reach the goals of strengthening IP protection in Liberia and West Africa.
