Maldives: CLDP Finalizes PPP Draft Legislation and Kicks Off Model PPP Contracts Working Group

On August 31, CLDP, in partnership with The Ministry of Finance and Planning in the Maldives, held a briefing session to finalize the PPP draft legislation in order to submit it into parliament. A subsequent working group session was held from September 1-3, also in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and Planning, that developed the outline for a model PPP contract. The PPP law will create a transparent framework for private investors and businesses to compete on contracts for Maldivian infrastructure projects. The implementation of the legislation and development of the model contract will be foundational for creating bankable projects that the Development Finance Corporation can support.
