As part of the implementation of MEPI policy in the Middle East, CLDP addresses arbitration policy in those countries in the region that are not signatories to treaties or not properly enforcing international standards in arbitration and mediation. CLDP worked with an arbitration expert to develop a program for the qualification and quantification of the value of the UAE becoming a signatory to the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (NY Convention). CLDP plans to address the value of the UAE’s accession to the Convention through research, education programs, and advocacy with the appropriate authorities in the UAE.
