On June 3, 2015, CLDP participated in the inaugural meeting of the U.S.-Pakistan Bilateral Working Group on Education, Science, and Technology (ESTWG), led by Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel, where USAID/CLDP programs on technology transfer and intellectual property were featured as key deliverables for the Government of Pakistan.  At the April, 2010 U.S.-Pakistan Bilateral Trade Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) meeting in Washington, D.C., former Pakistan Minister of Commerce Mehmood requested that U.S. universities help Pakistani universities develop innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems that contribute to Pakistan’s economic development through commercialization of research.  Accordingly, since 2010, CLDP has been conducting technology transfer programs in Pakistan that have resulted in the establishment of over 14 Offices of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in Pakistani universities and a number of technology incubators. CLDP programs continue to strengthen industry/academia partnerships and to develop the managers and internal expertise at these University offices via intellectual property management and strategy, licensing and incubator development workshops.
