The Government of Pakistan has been interested in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) as part of its efforts to meet Pakistan’s significant energy demand. As part of a larger USAID LNG consultancy, CLDP conducted consultations with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MoPNR) and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officials to assess legal and regulatory capacity building needs. CLDP laid the groundwork for a targeted program to build the capacity of MoPNR and OGRA staff to negotiate, implement and manage the agreements necessary to import liquefied natural gas into Pakistan. CLDP anticipates conducting an LNG workshop in the United States for MoPNR and OGRA staff in the late fall/early winter 2013 timeframe.
