From August 7 – September 29, 2017, CLDP sponsored one fellowship recipient from the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) staff to spend two months working as an integral member of the Bureau of Consumer Protection team at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The professional capacity gained by the CCP official through this immersion training will contribute to the transparency and predictability of domestic and international business transactions, including how businesses interact with the consumer public vis-à-vis stopping unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent business practices by collecting complaints and conducting investigations, suing companies and people that break the law, developing rules to maintain a fair marketplace, and educating consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities.
