As part of CLDP's ongoing support of Russia and Ukraine's efforts to make the protection of intellectual property rights under their Commercial Codes more compliant with the TRIPS Agreement, CLDP conducted a five-day workshop for Russian and Ukrainian border enforcement officials nominated by the Russian and Ukrainian State Customs Services. The workshop, which washeld in Washington, D.C., was designed to provide the visiting delegations with an opportunity to consult with their U.S. counterparts on current customs and border protection policies, techniqes and initiatives that lead to more effective border protection of intellectual property rights. The delegates were familiarized with border protection requirements under TRIPS, and had an opportunity to open dialogue between the two countries on how to effectively stem the flow of illegal products across their borders. Experts on IPR protection and enforcement from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection shared their consultative expertise with the delegates.
