From February 22-26, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), in coordination with Arbitration Initiative Georgia, led the 12^th Annual Tbilisi Vis Pre-Moot with three programs to prepare law students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, and Germany to compete in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) Competition. On February 22-23, CLDP led a training on the fundamentals of international arbitration and oral advocacy. Following the training on February 24, CLDP hosted a one-day conference on current issues in #commercialarbitration. On February 25-26, CLDP held a pre-moot competition with teams of law students and coaches from 14 universities across the South Caucasus, Germany, and Ukraine. These three events collectively prepared the teams to participate in the 2023 Vis Moot Competition and further develop commercial arbitration in the South Caucasus. At the end of the competition, three teams won a CLDP sponsorship to Vienna to compete in the Vis Moot based on their high scores Free University of Tbilisi, Baku State University, and Yerevan State University.
