The program consisted of a four-day workshop for senior officials representing accreditation activities in the Stability Pact countries. The delegates were briefed and discussed the benefits of participating in international organizations established for cooperation in the conduct of national accreditation activities. They discussed what it takes to qualify for mutual recognition agreements (MRA’s). And finally, the delegates prepared and administered a survey to determine their needs in order to qualify for membership in these international organizations and considered the development of their own cooperation for the Southeast Europe region. The workshop utilized the expert advice and participation of officials from the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Inter American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC), International Accreditation Forum (IAF), and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
