On August 19-21, 2019, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, CLDP held a conference in cooperation with the World Bank and Sri Lanka Customs on Article I of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA). Experts from the International Trade Administration provided guidance to Sri Lanka on its 1.4 notification, and reviewed Sri Lanka’s methodology for setting the country’s definitive dates for “Category C” under the TFA. As a result of the conference, Sri Lanka has resolved to publish draft regulations, to receive comments, and to use transition periods in the enforcement of regulations in line with Good Regulatory Practice.
