On October 19, CLDP, together with experts from the WTO’s Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation, conducted a workshop for food safety officials from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After beginning with an overview of the WTO Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Committee, the workshop focused on the practice of the Committee and current topics of discussion so that the participants may develop strategies to maximize the benefits of their participation with the Committee and attendance of the Committee meeting in November. This training is part of CLDP’s wider efforts to provide technical assistance for improving Sri Lanka’s food safety, attracting foreign investment, and facilitating increased international trade in Sri Lanka.
