From February 28 to March 1, CLDP, together with experts from the Institute for Technical Training and Cooperation, conducted a workshop on attendance at the WTO Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Committee Meeting for food safety officials from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, Animal Quarantine Service, Plant Quarantine Service, and Department of Commerce in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The workshop focused on using and interpreting the SPS agreement, a walkthrough of the Meeting agenda, how to access related websites and databases, and included group activities on specific agenda items to prepare for the delegation’s attendance of the Committee Meeting in March. This training is part of CLDP’s wider efforts to provide technical assistance for improving Sri Lanka’s food safety, attracting foreign investment, and facilitating increased international trade in Sri Lanka.
