Tunisia: CLDP Hosts Roundtable with Private Sector to Discuss Tunisia’s PPP Legal Framework

On January 8, in Tunis, CLDP, in partnership with Tunisia’s Instance Générale de Partenariat Public-Privé, organized a roundtable with representatives from the Tunisian private sector – including la Confédération des Entreprises Citoyennes de Tunisie and l’Union Tunisienne de l’Industrie, du Commerce et de l’Artisanat – to discuss how to improve the submission, selection, and execution processes for public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Tunisia. Comments received from participants during the roundtable will inform revisions to CLDP’s ongoing evaluation of the legal and regulatory framework for PPPs in Tunisia.

Tunisia: CLDP Hosts Interministerial Roundtable to Discuss Tunisia’s PPP Legal Framework

On January 9 – 10, in Tunis, CLDP, in partnership with Tunisia’s Instance Générale de Partenariat Public-Privé, organized a roundtable with Tunisian interagency representatives – including the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transportation – to discuss how to improve the submission, selection, and execution processes for public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Tunisia. Participants had the opportunity to provide targeted feedback on CLDP’s evaluation of the legal and regulatory framework for PPPs in Tunisia, which was drafted in partnership with outside experts, including the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. Comments received from participants during the roundtable will help address existing gaps in the Tunisian framework compared to international best practices.

Tunisia: CLDP Organizes Workshop on Project Financing and Risk Allocation in PPP Contracts

On January 11 – 12, in Tunis, CLDP, in partnership with Tunisia’s Instance Générale de Partenariat Public-Privé (IGPPP) and two project finance experts, organized a workshop for IGPPP and Tunisian interagency officials – including the Ministry of Finance and the Tunisian Investment Authority – on project financing of infrastructure projects and risk allocation in public-private partnership (PPP) contracts. The course covered intermediate level topics, with particular emphasis on value for money and comparative financial analysis. The experts provided real-world examples of infrastructure projects across Africa and engaged participants in a mock negotiation of a PPP term sheet.
