CLDP, in coordination with the U.S. Federal Trade Center and in cooperation with the High Council of Justice, the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine held the Workshop on the Adjudication of Commercial Disputes. The workshop took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on November 13-14, 2018, and gathered Ukrainian judges, government officials, lawyers, as well as representatives of the U.S. judiciary and legal community.

Although Ukraine has advanced significantly in the ongoing reforms of its competition laws and regulations, significant challenges remain. These challenges include efficient and effective adjudication of those commercial disputes, which focus on competition law issues, including the issues of abuse of dominant economic position. Thus, the Ukrainian judiciary would greatly benefit from shared best international practices and experiences in the application of the relevant substantive and procedural provisions in situations similar to those existing in Ukraine. 

The workshop will further increase the capacity of the Ukrainian judiciary to adjudicate commercial disputes on competition law. In turn, this will lead to better trade and investment opportunities in Ukraine.
