CLDP conducted a Fundamentals of Structuring Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Projects program for 15 officials from Pakistan representing the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, Pakistan State Oil Company, Sui Southern Gas Company and Inter State Gas Systems.

Pakistan suffers from a perennial energy crisis that significantly undermines its economic growth and development.  In order to alleviate severe and growing domestic shortfalls in gas and electricity, the Government of Pakistan has been working for nearly a decade to develop the infrastructure necessary to import LNG.  In conjunction with a larger USAID LNG consultancy, CLDP organized consultations in Washington D.C. and Houston, TX with regulatory officials and private-sector experts to introduce the fundamental legal, political and economic concepts and challenges related to LNG project development. At the end of the program, all stakeholders discussed the next phase of technical assistance, a follow-on workshop to be conducted in Islamabad in June 2014
