From March 20 – 22, 2023, CLDP organized a workshop and roundtable series in Hong Kong in support of Uzbek ADR stakeholders, including practitioners, representatives from the Tashkent International Arbitration Center (TIAC) and officials from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, Direct Investment Fund, and Strategic Reforms Agency. While TIAC attended a workshop led by Eversheds Sutherland and Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC) on business development best practices, the government delegation participated in sessions focused on the development of Hong Kong’s ADR framework, with a specific focus on the role of government in promoting ADR. The delegation then attended roundtables with Hong Kong’s legal and business community, including the International Commercial Court, Hill Dickenson, Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and American Chamber of Commerce members, among others. As a result of this program, the groups already formed a partnership for continued exchange of ideas on development of arbitration, commercial and business law in Uzbekistan.
