Workshop on Adjudication of International Commercial Disputes for Kosovo Judges

CLDP, in partnership with the Kosovo Judicial Institute (KJI), held the first in a series of workshops on the Adjudication of International Commercial Disputes.  Roughly 15 Kosovar commercial section judges participated in the two-day program which included presentations, hypothetical case studies, and examples from real practice on international sales contracts, complex international business transactions, arbitration, and an examination of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (New York Convention). Judge Delissa Ridgway from the U.S. International Court of Trade lead the workshop. 

CLDP’s judicial capacity building program, which will continue throughout 2013 and 2014, will aim to thoroughly train a cadre of judges on adjudication of complex international commercial disputes. KJI will be utilizing the participants from this program and the materials and methodologies used to design institutionalized commercial law trainings for judges.
