On June 6-7, CLDP led a 2-day workshop entitled Establishing a Competitive Legal and Regulatory Framework for Offshore Hydrocarbon Development in Buenos Aires, for approximately 20-25 officials from the national Ministry of Energy and Mining (MINEM), as well as provincial authorities and other organizations.  CLDP experts presented on the importance of a durable legal and regulatory framework in the current environment for new investments in offshore exploration and production; recommendations for Argentina, based on CLDP’s review and analysis of five laws Argentina; and the lifecycle of an offshore project, and key questions investors – oil and gas companies – will expect answers to in deciding whether to invest in Argentina’s offshore. On June 8, CLDP held consultations with MINEM to discuss their priority challenges and next steps of technical assistance.  At those consultations, MINEM expressed its interest to continue, and in some cases expand or accelerate, technical engagement.
