CLDP through AWYEG, and in partnership with the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT), the American Business Council Nigeria, the Commercial Service Women Empowered Leave Legacies Through Trade and Investment (WELLTI), and the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP), will conduct the Workshop on Franchising: A Business Model to Facilitate the Success of Women and Youth Led Enterprises that will take place in Accra, Ghana on August 21-22, 2023. The aim is to facilitate and promote the knowledge of women and youth to the current and potential opportunities as both franchisees/franchisors and contributors to the value chains in the sector.

The workshop will build on the Department of Commerce hosted webinar designed to attract U.S. franchisors to Ghana and target African companies and individuals that are good candidates to become franchisees and educate them on: 1) franchising’s specialized business model; 2) disclosure of best practices and franchise contract negotiations; 3) how to create an effective business plan; and 4) how to leverage a franchise relationship with a foreign franchisor to obtain competitive financing.
