On June 19-20, CLDP Senior Attorney Adam Al-Sarraf participated in a regional conference in Cairo, Egypt on best practices in implementing effective insolvency and restructuring mechanisms. The conference was sponsored by the World Bank and INSOL International, with support from CLDP, and included an audience of over 100 experts, practitioners, judges and government officials from Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Lebanon. CLDP presented on a panel on judicial capacity building for insolvency judges, sharing best practices from the U.S. on the use of case studies and mentoring to build the capacities of judges to adjudicate complex insolvency cases. Effective restructuring provisions can be a critical tool for countries to maximize enterprise value and increase creditor recovery.
