On May 14-16, 2012, CLDP held a workshop in Lviv, Ukraine focusing on coordination of enforcement and adjudication of IP issues.  Advisors from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the World Customs Organization, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined CLDP to work towards the creation of an IP interagency working group.  

The workshop resulted in a list of nine recommendations addressing matters of improving public awareness, strengthening enforcement, continuing further training for identification of counterfeit goods and amending current legislation to further strength IP protection.  The group agreed that the interagency forum should be affiliated with the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and work towards the coherence and uniformity of application of newly adopted laws, the ability of the customs and other officials to identify counterfeit and pirated products, and the coordination of activities of various government agencies responsible for IPR enforcement.  The finalized recommendations will be presented to the directors of each of the participating Ukrainian agencies: State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Interior, and the Anti-Monopoly Committee.
