As part of an ongoing program of judicial capacity building and IP enforcement for Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), CLDP hosted a working group meeting in Neum, BiH for 7 BiH judges working to draft BiH’s first ever Judicial IP Benchbook. The benchbook will provide valuable guidance to judges and prosecutors dealing with intellectual property infringement cases and will be used for training purposes by the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centers in FBiH, Republika Srpska, and Brčko District. The 7 judges, both civil and criminal and representative of BiH’s entities, met in Neum July 3-4 in order to compile their respective sections of the benchbook and finalize the first draft of the guide. The draft benchbook will be translated and sent to Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Bernice Donald and Federal Judicial Center Director of Communications Policy & Design Attorney Syl Sobel for their feedback and comments. The group will reconvene in August 2012 in Sarajevo in order to continue working on the benchbook and discuss plans for its use and publication.
