CLDP, in cooperation with the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia “Sakpatenti”, held a two day Workshop on Litigation and Adjudication of Copyright and Trademark Disputes in Signagi, Georgia. In attendance were judges from the Court of Appeal and courts of general jurisdiction throughout Georgia, lawyers from notable Georgian law firms, and officials from GCA and Sakpatenti. In addition to GCA and Sakpatenti speakers, leading the workshop was US District Court of the Southern District of Ohio Judge Edmund Sargus.
The workshop featured presentations as well as practical and effective training in IP litigation and adjudication skills through the use of 10 country-specific case studies and interactive discussions. Through the use of these case studies, which dealt with complex and current IP litigation and adjudication issues of importance to Georgia, and the ensuing lively discussions, the participating lawyers and judges received targeted training in order to more fairly, efficiently, and effectively litigate and adjudicate intellectual property infringement cases. This program will help to produce predictable, harmonized, and efficient adjudication and enforcement of IP infringement cases across Georgia.
