CLDP Holds Seminar to Strengthen Technology Transfer in Tunisia

CLDP organized a Seminar on the Management of Technology Transfer Offices in Tunisia in Istanbul, Turkey from December 3-6, 2013. The program was designed to strengthen the capacity of managers of Tunisian technology transfer offices through training in key areas such as licensing, contract negotiations and intellectual property protection. It was led by leading technology-transfer experts from the United States and attended by 15 participants from technology-transfer offices (TTOs) in Tunisia.

The benefits of technology transfer include creating jobs through entrepreneurship and manufacturing, capitalizing on university research, and placing useful innovations in the public sphere. Building the capacity of TTO managers will increase the commercialization of university-generated research projects, thus contributing to job creation and entrepreneurship development and aiding in Tunisia’s transition to a knowledge-based economy.

The U.S. Department of Commerce provides technical assistance to the Government of Tunisia to strengthen its economic environment by promoting legal and economic development, improving competitiveness and strengthening the rule of law.
