From August 11-12, CLDP led a team of intellectual property (IP) experts to Dubai, UAE for meetings with the Director General and staff of the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO).  The US delegation was comprised of experts from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), DLA Piper law firm, the US Embassy Islamabad and the Pakistani IP bar.  IPO is USPTO’s counterpart and has been charged with strengthening Pakistan’s IP regime which includes updating Pakistan’s IP laws.  Over the course of these consultations, the US experts and IPO developed a framework and action plan to bring Pakistan’s IP laws in line with international standards.
