CLDP sponsored the participation of 11 technology transfer specialists from Pakistan and six from Tunisia, to attend the 2016 Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California from 14-17 February 2016. This  event, coupled with a pre-conference program focusing on technology/business incubation and acceleration, provided the participants an opportunity to interact with successful high tech start-up investors, participate in interactive workshops designed for technology transfer managers, and  network with seasoned technology transfer and commercialization professionals to guide the progress of their newly established university-based Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORICs) centers. These participants were enabled and energized by the opportunity to establish meaningful contacts with leading U.S. technology transfer institutions, as well as facilitating the opportunity to collaborate between and among their organizations in order to further research, incentivize innovation, and protect and commercialize the resulting technology and intellectual property.  CLDP’s ongoing assistance is focused on bolstering innovation and R&D commercialization in Pakistan and Tunisia by helping to create a critical mass of in-country specialists equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully commercialize discoveries made by the academic community and act as an effective interface with the business community.
