On June 17-18, 2024, CLDP, in close cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Armenia, held a Public Private Roundtable on Enhancing the Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Yerevan, Armenia. Representatives from the Government of Armenia, business leaders, attorneys, and IP rights holders attended the program. The roundtable was a platform for these participants to discuss with each other and with international and regional experts the solutions to the current challenges related to IPR facing Armenia. 

During the roundtable, representatives of the Government of Armenia, business leaders, and IP rights holders shared their perspectives on the current legal and regulatory framework and the challenges that they face in enforcement of IPR. Additionally, international experts added to the dialog through presentations on international and regional developments and best practices in IPR protection and enforcement. Those experts also highlighted the intersections between IPR, public health and safety, and economic growth. 

The roundtable will lead to a defined set of recommendations for the reform of Armenia’s system of IP protection. These recommendations, if implemented, will contribute to the Government of Armenia’s efforts to strengthen the national system of IP protection by building out and strengthening the legal and regulatory framework related to IP and improving national institutional capacity in IP. Finally, this roundtable will enhance coordination and cooperation between the critical stakeholders working in the IP field.
