As part of its ongoing support to the Government of Ukraine in their effort to adopt legislation and implementing measures for intellectual property enforcement as called for in the WTO TRIPS Agreement, the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce held three-day workshop for district and appellate court judges representing 17 Ukrainian Oblasts. Utilizing expertise from the State Department of Intellectual Property of Ukraine, the U.S. Judiciary, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, the workshop presented a comprehensive overview of IP matters and investigate problematic issues in the adjudication of IP cases, including the ineffectiveness of punitive measures attached to IP crimes and the permissions needed for seizure of infringing goods.
