Countries that strengthen the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) are better positioned to attract investment while safeguarding U.S. businesses’ valuable assets, and advancing IP commercialization helps scale innovative startups and create new opportunities for American investors.

For that reason, on April 12–14, CLDP, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice's ICHIP, convened a working group with experts from Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and the United States to identify key challenges and solutions in IPR protection and enforcement, while also exploring opportunities to advance IP commercialization, in the participating countries.

Discussions on IPR protection and enforcement focused on combating counterfeit goods and digital piracy, as well as strengthening institutional capacity by integrating specialized training into judicial and prosecutorial academies. On IP commercialization, participants examined strategies to build sustainable innovation ecosystems, support founders and researchers developing cutting-edge technologies, and facilitate connections with American venture capital and investors.

By strengthening legal frameworks and fostering innovation ecosystems, CLDP is helping partner countries attract investment, protect critical IP, and unlock new avenues for economic growth in collaboration with the United States.
