From June 30-July 2, CLDP held a three-day workshop in Algiers, Algeria as part of a two-phase judicial capacity-building program on the adjudication of cybercrimes. This train-the trainers program, designed and conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Justice’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS), included participants from Algeria's Ministry of Justice.. The workshop focused on electronic evidence, international cooperation and procedural rules. The second phase of the program, centered around case-studies and lessons-learned during the June workshop, will take place in fall 2013.

This program is part of CLDP’s continued technical assistance to Algeria and is funded by the US Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). With its focus on combating and adjudicating cybercrime, this program addressed key MEPI priorities by (1) strengthening the effective use of information technology in Algeria and (2) improving the cyber-security environment, a critical factor for small and medium enterprise (SME) development and economic growth.
