On December 12, CLDP participated in the 'First Intellectual Property Forum: Towards Fair and Safe Trade'.  The event was hosted by the Dubai Economic Council and the Brand Owners' Protection Group, a non-profit organization which focuses on engaging the business community, consumers, media and interaction/collaboration with authorities to raise awareness and encourage a better brand protection environment across the Gulf Region.  The event was sponsored by a variety of global corporations, including US based Philip Morris International, and attended by a wide variety of high-level stakeholders from the private and public sector locally and regionally. CLDP Expert, Muddassir Siddiqqi, spoke of the importance IP Protection under Shari'ah Law, in an effort to highlight the cultural necessity of supporting a stricter Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) regime.
