CLDP Provides Guidance on Burmese Laws

CLDP provided comprehensive comments to the Burmese draft telecommunications law, which governs licensing and other matters related to the use of telecommunications services and equipment.  CLDP is coordinating its efforts with the Federal Communications Commission, the International Trade Administration, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration,  the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and other USG agencies.

CLDP also submitted suggestions in the form of policy guidelines and comments on best practices for drafting implementing regulations for the November 2012 Burmese Foreign Investment Law. These suggestions were drafted with contributions from the Office of the Chief Counsel for International Commerce, as a follow-up to CLDP’s previous comments on the draft foreign investment law.

CLDP’s guidance was provided to the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon, Burma in response to its requests for assistance.
