To fulfill a promise made in a side letter to the US-Morocco FTA, CLDP jointly with two experts from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, led a two day workshop in Rabat on Rules of Origin September 28-29, 2010, ensuring that the benefits of preferential tariff treatment under the agreement apply to Moroccan and U.S. goods eligible for such treatment. The workshop was hosted by the Director of Moroccan Customs. It was attended by 40 members of Moroccan Customs. The workshop had an important ?train the trainee? component as many of the attendees were Customs Training Specialists who came from regional offices. They will be using the exercises and presentations to train several hundred agents throughout Morocco. This training was part of a larger effort by the USG to facilitate the implementation of the US/Morocco FTA and increase its positive perception throughout the Moroccan population.
