On February 15-16, CLDP, in coordination with the Dominican General Directorate for Public Contracting, conducted a hybrid workshop on best practices in the design of professionalization programs for procurement officials. U.S. procurement experts from the General Services Administration, U.S. Air Force and Defense Acquisition University discussed key elements of professionalization strategies including training certifications, human capital development, specialized civil service careers and integrity mechanisms. During working sessions, participants, including Dominican government officials and university administrators, contributed to the design of a new Dominican professionalization strategy through interactive group discussions. This workshop is part of CLDP’s multi-phase programming to increase transparency and competition in the DR’s procurement system, which is support by USAID/Dominican Republic.
