CLDP, in collaboration with the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA), organized a Regional Workshop on Collective Copyright Management in Tbilisi, Georgia. The workshop included representatives from collective management organizations in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine as well as representatives from the Georgian public and private sector involved in copyright protection and enforcement. The workshop was led by Sam Mosenkis, Vice President for Legal Affairs at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and also focused on discussions led by the representatives from each organization on legislation, legal proceedings, public performance, mechanical rights, enforcement challenges, increasing membership and revenue, methods for distribution of royalties, public awareness efforts, and international cooperation.

This program is part of CLDP's ongoing work in Eastern Europe and Eurasia aimed at improving the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. The workshop not only emphasized the importance of IP protection and the integral role played by collective management organizations in protecting the rights of creators and end-users of IP, but will help produce predictable, harmonized, and efficient copyright protection throughout the region.
